More Prayers for Sundays: On Themes for Any Lectionary - Hardcover

Michael Counsell’s first book, Prayers for Sundays, is fast becoming an essential church resource, used by both clergy and laypeople to lead intercessions. Following on from this success, Counsell has devised a new book based on the same format but with eighty new subject headings.

Unlike Prayers for Sundays, it is not linked specifically to the ASB – rather, the headings are linked to the themes likely to be found in the Bible readings every Sunday. The book includes the three year Revised Common Lectionary, and against each Sunday is listed the appropriate themes from the author’s list. Prayers can then be easily linked to the readings.

For each theme, sections consist of: Liturgical Greetings, Penitiential Sections, Collect-type prayers, a list of suitable scripture passages, Declarations of Faith, Intercessions, The Peace, Eucharistic Prefaces, Thanksgivings and Blessings.

The seventy-eight new subject headings are suitable for services planned to focus on any scripture readings, in particular those of the new Revised Common Lectionary which is included here.
