Colonial and Revolutionary America takes a regional approach to understanding the peoples and colonies of early America. It places early America into an Atlantic and comparative context, with emphasis on the impact of trade, warfare, migration, and the vast cultural exchange that took place among American Indians, Africans, and Europeans. Alan Gallay holds the Warner R. Woodring Chair in Atlantic World and Early American history at The Ohio State University, where he is director of The Center for Historical Research.  He has authored and edited five books, including the Bancroft Prize winning, The Indian Slave Trade:  The Rise of the English Empire in the American South, 1670-1717 and The Colonial Wars of North America, 1512-1763:  An Encyclopedia.
