Le titre de cet. Ouvrage dérive d'un des plus remarquables phénomènes du nord du pays, phénomène dont, en bien des occasions, j'ai été témoin avec étonnement et admiration.
J 'ai adopté l'orthographe usitée en chaque contrée pour ce qui a rapport. Aux noms de lieux et de peuples, etc.; mais comme les langues suédoise et norvégienne se ressemblent beaucoup, et que toutes deux sont maintenant dans un état de transition et arriveront graduellement. À baser leur orthographe sur un modèle commun, nulle confusion ne résultera de ce plan.
