This book describes and analyzes the links between the growth of mass higher education systems and the radical processes of globalization which include not only round-the-clock, round-the-globe markets and new information technologies but revolutionary conceptions of time and space. Higher education is implicated as creator, interpreter and sufferer of these trends. "The Globalization of Higher Education" attempts to make sense of the connections between the expansion (and diversification) of higher education - including the increasing emphasis on international collaboration and the recruitment of international students - and the development of global politics, markets and culture.
