This work outlines the theories and approaches to the study of television in an accessible form for students. It is divided into four sections - forms of knowledge, audiences, gender and race. TOBY MILLER is Professor of Cultural Studies and Cultural Policy at NYU, the editor of the journal Television& New Media and the author of several publications, including The Avengers (1997) and (as co-author) Global Hollywood (2001).
