Melissa Pritchard is the author of three short story collections "Spirit Seizures," "The Instinct for Bliss," and "Disappearing Ingenue," and two previous novels, "Phoenix" and "Selene of the Spirits. "Among other awards, she has received two Pushcart Prizes, the Flannery O'Connor Award, and the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize. Her stories appear in literary journals including "STORY," "The Southern Review," "Boulevard," "Open City," "Washington Square," and "The Paris Review" as well as in anthologies including, "Prize Stories: The O Henry Awards" and "Best American Short Stories," She is director of the M.F.A. Creative Writing program at Arizona State University and is on the faculty of Spalding University. She lives in Tempe, Arizona.
