Exhibited to the Jj. Majestye the 24th of Decembre anno if 66. And a little lower on the same Margin are these Words (written by the fame Archbishop) viz. The Bill of Religion frifi red of the lower House and sent up to the hier Howse and ther onys red and after-, ward steyd by Comm an dement from the J$.Majefiie. From all which it is plain, that the Spiritual Lords did not persuade the Queen to prevent the Passing of this Bill but us'd their best Endevors to promote it,and obtain the Royal Assent. JPass on to the Convocation held in 1971, in which the Articles were revised. The ABs of this Convocation perished in the Fire of London; but Div Heylyns Abstract furnishes us-vith some imperfect Notices. S; 'Twa 'Twas opened on April the third, The Abstract tels us, that Dr. Wbitgift preached, his Text being Acts i j. 6. in qua (to use the Words of the Abstract) de inftituto & aucloritate fynodorum, de inimicis ecclefinel Turitantibus scilicet & Papifiis, de ufu veftimentorum & ornament or um, fjr pofi de multis in futura Synodo reformandiss trablabat. The Sermon was never printed, but the priginal MS. is in Lambeth Library. And 'cis observable, that it takes no notice of any Design to revise the Articles; tho' that was most certainly done by this very Convocation.
