Excerpt from The Dispatches and Letters of Vice Admiral Lord Viscount Nelson, Vol. 2: With Notes; 1795 to 1797
During this period nelson was promoted to the rank of commodore of the Second, then of the First Class, and afterwards to that of rear-admiral, was made a knight OF the bath, and obtained a Pension for his wounds and services. He returned to England for the recovery of his health in September 1797, and remained on shore until March following, when he hoisted his Flag in the Vanguard, and commenced a new career of glory, by his unparalleled Achievement at the Nile, in August 1798, the particulars of which will be found in his Correspondence in the next Volume.
