The eighth edition of this grammar received considerable alterations and additions but works of this nature adinit of 1c peatedim iovements; and are, perhaps, never complete. The authenso oicitous to render his book more worthy of the en' couraging approbation bestowed on it by the public, has again revised the work with care and attention. The new edition, he hopes, will be found much improved. The additions, which are very considerablb, are, chiefly, such as are calculated to expand the learner,' s Views of the subject; to obtiate objections; and to render the study of grammar both easy and interesting. T is edition contains also anew and enlarged system of parsing co pious lists of nouns arranged according to their gendei and number, and inany notes and observations, which serve to ex~ tend, or to explain, paiticulai rules and positions.

From the preceding representation, it appears to be a point of considerable 'importance, that every learner of the English lane guage shouldbe taught to pronounce perfectly, and with facillty every original simple sound that belongsto it. By a timely and judicious care in this respect, the voice will be prepared to utter, with easeand accuracy, every combination of sounds and taught to avoid that confused and imperfect manner of pronouncing words, which accompanies, through] life, many persons who ha've' not, in this respect, been properlyinstructed at an early period.
