In the art of electric lighting the century has closed with the passing of the open-arc lamp, and there is every indication that the series direct-cur rent arc lamp will soon practi'cally disappear. For indoor lighting the use of the multiple - arc lamp has become standard practice, and for street lighting the alternating arc is already best adapted to most conditions.
