On Sunday, Oct. 22, 1808, aha much solemn preparation, Mr. Martyn was ordained deacon at Ely; and truly might be, on that serious occasion, affirm, that he was inwardly moved by the Holy Ghost,' to assume the sacred func tion. I-is commenced his ministry, as Curate to Mr. Simeon, in Tri nity Church, and preached his first sermon, on the Sunday after his ordination, on Job xiv. 14. 'if a man die, sh 8rc.'
