ERNESTO ORTIZBiographyErnesto Ortiz was born in Mexico City, in 1951. As a child he frequently visited the family''s coffee plantation, where he learned a life style that will later mark the path of his teachings, influenced by "curaciones" and other practices carried by the Shamans of this land. At the age of 14, he went as an exchange student to Michigan, returning later to his native country to finish High School. Around the age of 17, he started exploring mind expanding with teacher plants. He moved to San Diego, California where he studied textiles and photography, and at 21 his passion to study and photograph native cultures and "shamanism" brought him on a two-year trip to South America. Upon his return to California, he established a business importing textiles from Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia; worked as a photographer for Kali Productions -an LA based company; and opened a retail business dealing with crystals and accessories. In 1990, inner-calling and a desire to share with others the accumulation of experiences and the ability to develop mind work stirred Ernesto to a new direction. In 1988 he moved to Florida where he founded "Journey to the Heart", a company dedicated to the improvement of consciousness and the well-being of people. He has been featured in Allure, Cosmopolitan, and Selecta Magazines as one of the best massage therapists from coast to coast; in TV programs such as ''Despierta America" (the Spanish version of Good Morning America), "Primer Impacto", Galavision, Telemundo/NBC; in radio shows like "As¿ contigo" and WLRN Public Radio, reaching an international audience of over 86 million people. Ernesto has two children and makes his home base in Miami, Fl.
