Dave Boyd, ATP, CFII was serving as an Intelligence Officer with the US Air Force when he began flying in 1974. After retiring from the USAF in 1983 he taught flying at Vincennes University and the University of Illinois, Institute of Aviation for a total of 25 years. For 20 of those years Dave taught the Flight Instructor (CFI) Ground School at both institutions until his retirement in 2008. Dave began his tenure as a Designated Pilot Examiner in 1989 while at Vincennes University until he resigned his DPE authority in 2016. In 1985 Dave founded Banner Medical Airlift, providing long distance medical air transportation to indigent patients. In 2012 Dave first flew his homebuilt airplane a Pietenpol Air Camper. In 2016 he opened Boyd Pilot Services. BPS provides consulting and flight training services for any pilot seeking to acquire a new certificate or rating.
