Whitney Smith, PhD, is the director of the Flag Research Center in Massachusetts. USA. In 1962, he and a colleague founded The Flag Bulletin: The International Journal of Vexillology. Since then, Smith has served as a consultant to many governments, businesses and institutions and is the author of 24 books on flags.
