This collection of twenty-nine essays opens with a biographical sketch of John Wymer by Lawson and Rogerson that entices one to read on with the hope of further insights into the fascinating life and career of John Wymer. ... The essays, much like Wymers own research activities, principally examine archaeological context, whether it is the stratigraphy of a particular site, the chronology of fluvial terraces of river systems, or the spatial and temporal distribution of sites in a region, a country, or across the globe. There are important contributions here, in addition to preliminary reports on current research, interesting geographic syntheses and valuable summaries of completed major projects.'-- (12/01/1999)
