Andrew S. Coxon is a practising classroom music teacher with 40 years experience, currently teaching part-time at the Nelson Thomlinson School, Wigton, still covering music from Year 7 to A level. Until taking retirement from full-time teaching, he had been Head of Department in three secondary schools, most notably West Denton High School in Newcastle. In all, he was involved in annual musical productions and ran a wide range of instrumental and vocal groups. He has been involved in examination work with one of the major examining boards for 36 years and has held senior posts at GCSE and A level for some time. Examining work includes examined assessment and moderation of coursework. He recently co-authored two student books for new music specifications, one for GCSE, the other for AS/A2. He is an experienced composer and arranger, actively making music in a variety of ways, inside and outside school. Philip Taylor is a freelance teacher, examiner and pianist. He has been a classroom music teacher for more than 20 years, most recently as director of music at Rishworth School, Yorkshire. Since leaving full-time teaching, he has taught music education and keyboard skills at Huddersfield University. He is a repetiteur and animateur for the education wing of Opera North, bringing the world of opera to young people around the north of England. He has been an examiner since 1985, and a senior examiner since 1996.
