Reseña del editor:
Chronicling the life of the wife of politician James A. Baker III, this memoir reveals the private world of a wife and mother and how her faith in God helped her through difficult times. Raised in a Catholic family on a ranch in Texas, she married the heir of a prominent Houston family and assumed that she would live a life of happiness; but when her marriage failed, the book reveals, she turned to her faith to find a path through hardship. Inspiring and compelling, the story follows her tumultuous divorce and eventual second marriage - this time to a recently widowed man, with whom she faced the challenge of uniting eight children into one blended family. The autobiography also details Susan's loneliness, the special challenges she faced as the wife of a man at the highest levels of the Reagan and the first Bush administrations, and her sometimes-stormy relationship with God. Revealing how her strong faith, study of scripture, and belief in the power of prayer helped her rebuild her life, this spiritual journey provides hope and encouragement for the many others facing personal challenges.
Biografía del autor:
Susan Baker grew up on a ranch in Texas and spent her life in high political circles. After a disastrous first marriage, she blended her young family with that of the recently widowed James A. Baker III. As the Bakers worked to bring their five children together, his political career began to rise, bringing him into the sphere of Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush and eventually to influential positions as Chief of Staff, Secretary of the Treasury and Secretary of State. Navigating the waters of big city Texas, Washington, D.C., and eventually the globe, Susan found that only her strong Christian faith enabled her to survive the constant unpredictable changes. Once she centered on this reality, she could reach out to others through the Parents Music Resource Center and the First Lady's Prayer Group, and to people of all faiths to coordinate an important multi-national, multi-religion prayer meeting in Jerusalem.
