Since its establishment in 1829, the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race is one of the most popular British sport events of the year. William Fisher Macmichael, former student of Downing College, Cambridge, and late secretary of the Cambridge University Boat Club, chronicles the history of the early races from 1829 to 1869.
