Pesikta Rabbati is a collection of Aggadic Midrash (homilies) on the Pentateuchal and prophetic lessons, the special Sabbaths, etc. It was composed around 845 CE and probably called "rabbati" (the larger) to distinguish it from the earlier Pesikta. In the appendix to this work, the Friedmann edition, four homilies are printed from a manuscript, Nos. 1 and 2 of which have yelammedenus and proems. The midrash referred to here is a later, shorter midrash for the feast-days, designated as "New Pesikta," and frequently drawing upon the Pesikta Rabbati. (Source; Jewish Encyclopedia, other public domain sites). Meir Friedman was a founding member of the Vienna Bet Midrash and a professor at the Israelitisch-Theologische Lehrenstalt where he taught Solomon Schechter. Serious age wear to binding, especially at corners, leather and spine, with remnants of glued-on modern label at bottom of spine, closed tears alongside head and tail of spine, serious rubbing and wear to all of spine. Owner's writing to inside of front board, endpapers and throughout, mainly at margins, not affecting text. Browning throughout, with sporadic foxing. In Hebrew. Fair condition. Not in Bet Eked.
