A collection of theological poems, guiding the reader towards the moral and divine. The poems were collected by the author's cousin Frances Owen, and was very popular upon publication, going through six editions in the eighteenth century. With a brief account of the author. Written by Mary Mollineux, though this work was published posthumously. Mollineux was a Quaker poet. With prior owner's ink inscription to the endpapers from Ann Brooker. Collated, incomplete, as lacking pages 145 to 174, as the pagination statd b the ESTC under the citation number T96877. In a full calf binding. Externally, sound, with some loss to the front board. Light marking to the boards. Minor surface cracks to the spine. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Prior owner's ink inscription to the endpapers. Internally, binding is mostly detached. Pages 81 to 144 are detached. Textblock from pages 17 to 80 is working loose. Lacking pages 145 to 174. Poor. book.

Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little age-toned and generally clean with some spots. Preface of 'Life' a little closely trimmed to the head, affecting the running title only. The occasional ink annotation to 'Contemplations', by Ralph Johnson, and an ink inscription to the title page of 'Life'. Good. book.
