8vo, pp. [iv], xxv, [1]; '361' (mistake for 401); with other pagination errors (notably between pp. 46 and 54); two title pages, both in red and black (see below), of which the first is coming a bit loose; blank margin cut from head of pp. 229-230, with no loss; slightly thumbed, but withal a very good copy, in contemporary red morocco, covers with gilt roll-tool border, spine gilt; plain endpapers, gilt edges. A rare edition, and unexpectedly bound in contemporary Irish red morocco. This is a poetical miscellany of sorts, because after Pope's poetry, which ends on p. 285, there is a separate section of poetry by Denham, Roscommon, Buckingham, Dryden and Tickell, with its own title page but the pagination and signatures are continuous throughout. Pope's section also has its own title page, describing this as the 'second edition': Grierson had originally printed his own version of the 1717 folio Works, as an octavo in 1718, and this is a reprint of that, but with 'several new poems since publish'd by the author'. Griffith 193. ESTC locates five copies in Britain and Ireland (BL, two at Cambridge, Bodleian and Trinity Dublin), and four in the USA (Harvard, Texas, Virginia and Yale).
