This scarce 1969 edition of the original 1801 text was enlarged and corrected by J. Charles Cox, and contains a preface by Norris and Ross McWhirter. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is generally smart and bright except for sunning to the spine and upper extremities, and a little chipping to the upper extremities and folds of the flaps. Fine. book.

The engravings, which are mostly derived from early manuscripts, include an image of a pair of 14th century players of 'bandy-ball,' which is clearly golf. Not a rare book but a pleasant copy seldom found with all the original wrappers intact and in perfect condition.
