The first edition of this very scarce pamphlet.ESTC citation number R21144.Half-title is present.Register runs as [2], B-I4, K2.Collated, complete.A controversial pamphlet in which the authors lament the decline in moral standards of the British public, and sets out the case for the right of the Church of England to meet alongside parliament. The pamphlet led to the agitation of the High Church for ecclesiastical reform.Written by Bartholomew Shower in collaboration with Francis Atterbury. Atterbury in particular had a religious background, as a High Church Tory and Jacobite. Shower was notable as a lawyer, politician, High Tory, and Recorder of London. Disbound. Half-title, title page, and pages 57 to 68 are detached but present. Edge wear to the first and last few leaves, with a small chip to the head of the final two leaves, not affecting text. Internally, binding is a little strained. Pages are age-toned with some light spots and handling marks. A couple of pencil notes to the margins. Good Only. book.
