Manuskript / Papierantiquität
3pp., 4to. Bifolium. In fair condition, aged and creased with a few short closed tears. The reverse of the second leaf carries red wax seal with a good impression and two postmarks, and is addressed by Blore to Harington in Berkeley Square. Neatly and closely written, beginning: 'I am favoured with your letter and send you underneath the questions which I shall be glad to have answered to enable me to complete your Pedigree, down to the present time, for the History of Rutland. I am in possession of Wright's History of Rutland and the other printed books mentioned in your letter but none of these nor any of the Baronetages hitherto printed contain so complete an account of the early part of the family as I have already drawn up. A number of enquiries follows, after which Blore writes: 'I have taken great pains with the Harington Pedigree, and have had access to many ancient and authentic documents relative to the family adn the family estates in Rutland and elsewhere but those documents unfortunately do not come down to the periods of the above enquiries on which the Baronetages are extremely defective.' He ends with a repeated appeal for information, so that he may be 'enabled to make the Pedigree as respectable for accuracy as it is for antiquity'. From the Harington family papers.
