Staining to boards, name to end-paper. Good only. The author was a Londoner and keen naturalist and student of bird life who moved to Wales in order to study its birds more closely. The book contains many good photographs, chiefly of birds' nests and eggs, by Oliver G. Pike. In contrast to the edition of the previous year, this smaller-format edition of 1904 appeared in plain green cloth and lacked the sheet of tissue between frontispiece and title-page. It was, however, issued with an extremely pretty dust-wrapper showing a colour painting, by Ernest Aris, of a duck alighting on a woodland pond. This copy is, unfortunately, lacking the dust-wrapper. .
