Burnand, a prolific author of humorous and satirical books, produced two volumes of "Occasional happy thoughts" in 1875/76. This is the second of them. They consist of amusing essays on a wide range of subjects, from buying a horse to this burlesque on Walton. "The incomplete angler" was published separately later, in 1887. .
