Leather. Zustand: Fair. None (illustrator). Following an interesting biography, this uncommon set presents the complete works of the eighteenth century theologian Daniel Waterland. An uncommon set containing the life and works of the English theologian Daniel Waterland. Eight years after becoming Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge in 1714, Waterland was appointed chancellor of the of the Diocese of York. William Van Mildert offers a detailed biography of Waterland to the first volume, after which the reader can find his sermons, his Historic of the Anthanasian Creed, several articles on the importance of the doctrine of the Holy Trinity, and his letters to the final volumes. With a sticker from Oxford booksellers 'Thornton & Sons' to the front pastedown of all volumes. In a full calf binding with the emblem of the University of Oxford in gilt to the front board. Externally, rather worn. Both boards of volume I are detached, as is the front board of volume 2. The front joint has nearly failed to volume 3, and the rear joint has nearly failed to volumes 2 and 5. These boards may detach with further handling. Volumes 1 and 6 are missing a slither to the head and tail of the spine, with some closed tears to the head of volume 2. The majority of the spine is missing to volume 4, although the top section can be found tucked into the volume. The front hinge is starting to volumes 5 and 6., and the rear hinge is a little fragile to volume 6. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from some light spotting to the front and the rear of the volume, pages are generally bright and clean. Fair. book.
