Cloth. Zustand: Very Good Indeed. None (illustrator). First edition. The first edition of this title by popular English bookseller and antiquarian writer Gilbert Dyer. With errata leaf following the preface, prior to introduction. A collection of literary essays by this prominent bookseller which discusses several 'errors' made in literature throughout time. There is a commentary on the Richard of Cirencester 'Description of Britain' as well as the Antonine Itinerary. The Cirencester work has since been proved to be a forgery (1846). The commentaries were originally published in 1814. There is also an essay on the principles of atheism and how they are unfounded. This tract originally appeared in 1796. Several of Dyer's statements to this volume were originally published in the 'Monthly Magazine' in 1809. A fascinating and scarce work by this thorough antiquary. Rebound in a full cloth binding. Externally, excellent in minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with occasional scattered spots, heavier to the first and last few pages. Very Good Indeed. book.
