Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Hardcover, 192 pages : color illustrations ; 26 cm. Fine. Text in English and Dutch. Early in his youth Gielijn Escher (1945) became fascinated by and without effort familiar with the essence of poster art: the forging of complete harmony between text and image. In the winter of 1955-56 at the age of 5 he started collecting orange-crate labels quickly followed by the beginning of a poster collection. Inspired by the high quality of commercial as well as cultural posters his career choice was quickly decided. Through the years, without being influence by trends, he has developed a unique style which is not to be compared to any other poster designer in the world. This monograph and the exposition in Museum Boijmans van Beuningen give a unique insight into the many-sided oeuvre of a self-willed artist and an inspired collector.
