    Fine Binding. Zustand: Very Good. None (illustrator). First edition. A smart copy of this very scarce poem regarding the 14th century moated castle in East Sussex, Bodiam Castle. In a full morocco binding, with gilt stamping to the board edges. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper, 'Raymond Ashton from J W Remmy Hughes Xmas 1914'. Bound without the half-title and advertisements. Bodiam Castle, locating Sussex England, was built in the 14th century. The castle was built by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge and remained in his family for many generations, before it was sold and eventually found itself in the hand of the Marquis Curzon of Kedleston. On Curzon's death the building was donated to the National Trust and is now open to the general public. The author is not stated to the title page. The entry for this work on jisc states the author as George Stonestreet Griffin-Stonestreet. Griffin-Stonestreet joined the church in 1807 and became the Curate of Ewhurst in Sussex. A bright copy of this rare work. In a full straight grained morocco binding. Externally, generally smart with rubbing to the joints and to the extremities. Patches of rubbing to the spine. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good. book.
