Testi di Iryna Tsilyk Formato giornale ripiegato e stampato in digitale. Cm 50x35. pp. 24. . Perfetto (Mint). . Prima edizione (First Edition). . Zustand: Perfetto (Mint). Prima edizione (First Edition). Fotografie a colori e in bianco e nero di Jim Goldberg Custodia serigrafata. Cm 12x16. pp. 90. . Perfetto (Mint). . Prima edizione (First Edition). . Features black and white photographs by Goldberg paired with facsimile handwritten statements from his subjects. A very good copy in photo-illustrated wrappers with a stain to the last few pages and to the top edge of some of the later pages but with no impact on the text or images. Despite the flaws a solid copy of this important book. (Roth 250).

Zustand: Wie neu. Mack Books, London. 2023. First edition, first printing. New, mint, unread; still originally shrink-wrapped in publisher`s plastic foil. Large format OTA bound paperback. 267 x 340 mm. 360 pages. Photos: Jim Goldberg. Text in English. Perfect condition! Signiert by the artist! Collector`s copy! "Coming and Going is Jim Goldberg`s unique work of autobiography. Since 1999, Goldberg has been photographing his daily life through all its vicissitudes and returning to his studio to re-imagine and investigate these images through a practice of collage, annotation, montage, and reconstruction for which he has become renowned. This book charts a course through the grief following the death of one`s parents, the life-altering birth of a child, the heartbreak of divorce, and the rediscovery of love. Told using a correspondingly tumultuous blend of singular and combined imagery, personal notes, collages, and ephemera, the book captures the bittersweet realities of an individual life while reflecting on the universal, inescapable comings and goings that shape us and the ways we grow to understand ourselves. Familiar from celebrated works such as Rich and Poor (1985), Raised by Wolves (1995) and Open See (2009), Goldberg`s visual language employs sequence and narrative with a feverish intensity. History, memory, and imagination collide in a vividly material practice to which the influences of fiction and film, and the book form itself, are central. Coming and Going offers a fierce, vulnerable, and at times overwhelming account of a life and a search for the elusive universals of experience - an achievement that constitutes Goldberg`s masterwork and a significant contribution to contemporary bookmaking." Collector`s copy! "After it`s first printing sold out in just five days, we are happy to announce that a second printing of the first edition is now available to pre-order. Often considered Jim Goldberg`s seminal body of work, Raised By Wolves collages ten years of photographs, texts, films and installations into an epic narrative of the lives of runaway teenagers in San Francisco and Los Angeles in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In "Fingerprint" Goldberg exhibits many never-before-seen Polaroids from the project, which served as drafts for photographs he would later make, as well as gifts for the subjects themselves. The images are sometimes scrawled with text proclaiming the identities, challenges, and resilience of the teens, and other times capture a quiet reality of life on the street." Softback. Pictorial covers. 320 pages, with numerous b/w photographs throughout. Very lightly rubbed at edges of covers and corner tips, really minimal though. A near fine copy. A century after photographer Jacob Riis published 'How the Other Half Lives: Studies among the Tenements of New York', a harrowing portrait of urban poverty, Jim Goldberg took to the streets of Los Angeles and San Francisco where he met a cadre of homeless children fending for themselves. Over a period of ten years, roughly 1985 to 1995, Goldberg witnessed the chaotic reality of street life to create 'Raised by Wolves', a collection of intimate photographs, snippets of conversation, handwritten notes, drawings, snapshots, and the detritus of daily life, which the Washington Post called, "A heartbreaking novel with pictures." The protagonists, Tweaky Dave and Echo, were charismatic but troubled youths, whose personalities, histories, and dreams leap from the page and grab you by the throat. Goldberg found a way inside a band of outsiders whose existence has been alternately vilified, marginalized, or erased, and restored to them a humanity that had been stripped by addiction, violence, and abuse. Many of the photographs depict these kids shooting up, making out begging in the street or just freaking out generally. Book.

Original photo-illustrated stiff glossy white wraps with blue and reverse white lettering on cover, blue and black lettering on spine; only issued as paperback. Two frontispiece photos. With an epilog by Jim Goldberg. Scarce. Andrew Roth, The Book of 101 Books, pages 250/251. Profusely illustrated with b/w photographs and handwritten captions throughout. With autobiographical epilog by Goldberg. "The photographs in this book constitute a shocking and gripping portrait of contemporary America. Jim Goldberg's photographs of rich and poor people, with the subjects' own handwritten comments about themselves on the prints, give us an inside look at the American dream at both ends of the social scale. His pictures reveal his subjects' innermost fears and aspirations, their perceptions and illusions about themselves, with a frankness that makes the portraits as engrossing as they are disturbing." (Spalding Gray). Some of these pictures were exhibited at New York's Museum of Modern Art in 1984. Wraps lightly age-toned and rubbed. Interior in very good+ condition.
