Leather. Zustand: Very Good Indeed. Not Stated (illustrator). A very smart collection of the poems of both William Collins and Thomas Gray in a contemporary binding, two influential English poets, two volumes here bound as one volume. Illustrated with two plates. Two volumes bound as one. In a signed binding by Faulkner. This work contains a collection of the poems of William Collins and Thomas Gray. Collins and Gray were both influential poets of the mid eighteenth century. Collins wrote lyrical odes that turned the public away from Augustan poetry and towards the Romantic era that literature was soon to see. Gray only published thirteen poems in his life due to his being very self-critical, even though all of his published poems received great acclaim. Illustrated with two plates. Binder's label to the front pastedown. Bookplate to the front pastedown, 'Sir George Denys'. Denys was a political, an MP for Kingston upon Hull from 1812 to 1818. In a rebacked full calf binding. Externally, smart. A little rubbing to the boards. Very minor bumping to the extremities. A few light marks to the spine. Front hinge is starting but firm. Bookplate and binders label to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed. book.
