" (Howes) The 'First American Regiment', of which Captain Heart's Company formed a part, was sent to garrison posts on the western frontier just after the Revolution. The Dickinson-Harmar correspondence provides details on the raising of the regiment and information on the relations of the American government with the Indians of the Northwest at that time.
