Disbound. Zustand: Good. None (illustrator). First edition. A first edition of John Home's first play. A first edition of John Home's first play about Agis, King of Sparta. The minister's retelling of Plutarch's narrative was produced at Drury Lane by in 1758 by David Garrick. This first edition is the variant with 'Written by ------ ' beneath the Prologue heading. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front page. No author is given in typescript, so the owner has added, 'By a Mr Home, a Scotch Minister, Author of Douglas'. Checked using JISC, from a copy held at the British Library. Disbound.
