Paperback. Zustand: Good. None (illustrator). A nice copy of John Selden's work, published posthumously, with two pages of publishers ads to the rear and copy of original title page. Part of the 'English Reprint' series. John Selden (December 16, 1584 November 30, 1654) was an English jurist, legal antiquary and oriental scholar. It was, however, as a scholar and writer that Selden won his reputation. His first work, an account of the civil administration of England before the Norman Conquest, is said to have been completed when he was only twenty-two or twenty-three. Several of Selden's minor works were published posthoumously, of which Tale Talk is perhaps his best known. Edited by the literary scholar Edward Arber, who is known for his contributions to the 'English Reprint' series. This series, created in the 19th century, aimed to produce accurate reprints of notable works, making them easily accessible to the general public. In a quarter cloth binding, with original paper boards. Externally, sound. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine and also to the extremities. The off mark to the front and rear boards. Previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound, though the title pages and the odd page loosening slightly. Pages are bright and clean, with no apparent marks. Good. book.
