In a quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Cloth is a little faded. Crack to the rear joint. Light marks and a little rubbing to the boards and spine. Spine label is rubbed and discoloured. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Hinges are strained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the occasional scattered spot. Good. book.

Later half calf over marbled boards, backstrip gilt-panelled; bound from the parts, with the original wrappers bound in the rear. Joints cracked but holding. § Third edition. The engravings, which are mostly derived from early manuscripts, include an image of a pair of 14th century players of 'bandy-ball,' which is clearly golf. Not a rare book but a pleasant copy seldom found with all the original wrappers intact and in perfect condition.
