First edition of this rare treatise on international law, based on the work of Grotius.The author refers mainly to Grotius but also to Thomasius and Pufendorf. Josephus Jurain was Jesuit and professor of ethics, natural law, and politics at the University at Prague. Large engraved title, head and tail vignettes depicting prosperity and trade (title vignette), war (head vignette), and peace and prosperity (tail vignette). Depicting ships, commercial products, a coloured inhabitant, and also an ape. There is also a large text vignette by Klauber depicts a war scenery with a castle. At the end large vignette bonum comune. In the [4] section two leaves (invitation to hear the defense of Joseph Daniel Weywode de Strohmberg thesis in the University at Prague,and dedications) are not present. Further following the [2] section ten leaves with Propositiones ex Universa Philosophia are not present.Very likely they were never bound in. Compare the digital reproduction of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. Extremely rare.
