First edition, first impression, Harrod's own copy, with his signature dated 25 May 1933 on the front free endpaper. Roy Harrod (1900-1978) is known for pioneering the economics of dynamic growth. He studied under Keynes at Cambridge and wrote Keynes's authorized biography. In this highly influential textbook, Harrod seeks to outline the first principles of international trade and finance. Provenance: inscription of Bentley Powys Conyers Bridgewater (1911-1996) of Christ Church, Oxford on the front free endpaper. In 1930, Bridgewater went up to study modern languages at Christ Church, where Harrod was a Fellow. He went on to become secretary of the British Museum. The contents bear Bridgewater's extensive pencil annotations and underlinings. Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine and front cover lettered and ruled in black. With dust jacket. Blackwell's bookseller's ticket to front pastedown. Light rubbing, bumping, and toning, slight lean to spine, minor foxing to edges and content margins; soiling and chipping to unclipped jacket, browning to spine, closed tear to head of front panel fold: a very good copy in like jacket.
