Seiten papierbedingt leicht gebräunt. - Marten Cumberland (* 1892 in London; 1972) war ein britischer Journalist und Schriftsteller. Leben: Nachdem er seine Schulzeit absolviert hatte, schloss sich Cumberland der Royal Navy an und fuhr über sechs Jahre zur See. Während des Ersten Weltkriegs fungierte er als Marinefunker. Nach Kriegsende quittierte er seinen Militärdienst und arbeitete für verschiedene Zeitungen und Radiosender als Journalist. Cumberland lebte viele Jahre in Paris und ließ sich kurz vor seinem Tod 1972 in Irland nieder. Neben seinem eigenen Namen benutzte Cumberland auch das Pseudonym Kevin O Hara. Er war mehrmals als Herausgeber tätig und sein literarisches uvre bestand meistenteils (über 60 Bände) aus Kriminalromanen. Als Protagonist erfand er Commissaire Saturnin Sax", der von der zeitgenössischen Literaturkritik oft mit Georges Simenons Kommissar Maigret" verglichen wurde.
