(Thomas) Willert Beale (1828-94) was a composer and music impresario, and organised performances of opera in the provinces. This autobiography has valuable historical information about English musical life, particularly on Italian opera singers, from 1840 to 1890.Beale often wrote under the pseudonym of Walter Maynard, and supported himself by organising performances of opera in the provinces.

Hutton & Co. when the company incorporated in 1962. His first book, The Battle for Investment Survival sold over 200,000 copies during the Great Depression, attained the status of a classic financial text, and is still widely read today.
