33 x 22 cm. 1 S. auf Hadernbütten Doppelbogen mit schönem Vander Ley Wasserzeichen. gute Erhaltung. Prince de POIX. Duc de Mouchy 1817. Capitaine der Gardes du Corps (in Familientradition!), Lieutenant Général, Gouverneur von Versailles. 1789 als Vertreter des Adels von Amiens und Ham in die Generalstände gewählt. Wegen eines Duells mit dem Kommandeur der Nationalgarde in Versailles wurde er zum Rücktritt genötigt. Er verließ zeitweise das Land - kehrte aber bald zurück und nahm an der Revolution vom 10. August 1792 teil. Um nicht wie seine Eltern guillotiniert zu werden, verließ er abermals das Land. 1800 kehrte er zurück und lebte während des Kaiserreichs zurückgezogen auf seinem Gut in Mouchy. 1815 begleitete er während der Hundert Tage König Louis XVIII. in sein Exil in GENT. Third edition of this Christian devotional, first published in 1778, and the second German edition in general, following the 1712 issue, as stated in the foreword. Including prayers and litanies, as well as observations on Christian duties, trust, friendship, sins and the afterlife, this work offers guidance throughout the Christian year. The engraved plates mostly show scenes from the Old and New Testament, such as the offering of a lamb by Abel, the Annunciation, the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, while the frontispiece depicts the three Christian virtues. Dedicated to Maria Theresa. - Upper inner hinges broken. Some worming, especially in the first half of the volume, slight loss of text; somewhat fingerstained, slightly brownstained and waterstained. Small flaws to the corners of several pages, not touching the text. From the library of the Viennese collector Werner Habel, with his stamped ownership to flyleaf. - Kayser IV, 243 (1782 ed.). Très jolie reliure romantique, probablement exécutée vers 1830, signée par Duplanil. "Pierre Duplanil. Relieur à Paris. Le plus connu d'une famille de relieurs portant ce nom. Il exerça son métier de 1810 à 1845. Vers 1832, il a dû travailler avec son fils, car un Almanach de cette année cite la firme "Duplanil Père et Fils relieurs". La parfaite connaissance du métier et ses décors attrayants ont conféré à Duplanil une place de choix méritée." (Devauchelle, II, p. 233). 1763.

Binding cord shows along spine edges. Front board is separated from spine about 1cm at the widest points. Front hinge is nearly broken. Outer edge of front board is slightly bumped. Gently scuffed, marbled end papers. Light to moderate foxing throughout. Ex-library stamps on title page, no other library matter. 663, [1] pages. pp.
