Binding slightly worn, rubbed, bumped, and scuffed; small numerical label to upper margin of upper. Minor foxing; occasional annotations in pencil; some upper corners creased; handstamp of Andre Martinet to upper margin and small oval handstamps to lower margin of title, slightly trimmed. First Edition. First performed in Paris at the Théâtre Lyrique on 7 March 1855. Poise was a pupil of Adam. The present work, his first opera "held the stage at the Théâtre Lyrique for 5 years (80 performances), then appeared in the repertory of the Opéra-Comique (101 performances from 1872 to 1877). To "Cadol", announcing that he shall call at 4 o'clock the next afternoon, mentioning an appointment he forgot he had at the Avenue de l'Impératrice at 2 o'clock, and asking the recipient to let him know if this change of plans does not suit him: "Je serai demain chez vous vers quatre heures. Je suis obligé d'aller avenue de l'impératrice à deux heures. Je l'avais oublié. Peut-être ce changement va déranger vos projets. Dans ce cas un mot je vous prie [.]". - Slightly toned.

Voulez vous me donner quatre places pour moi? [.]". - With slight residue of an old paper seal.
