This biography is a very important source of information on the reign of Charles and its importance.Charles V was a member of the House of Habsburg, and saw the family rise in ranks and situation throughout his life as he was at the head.Charles also held the titles of the Archduke of Austria, the King of Spain, and Lord of the Netherlands as Duke of Burgundy.Written by Prudencio de Sandoval, a Spanish historian, and Benedictine monk.Translated into English by John Stevens.Two bookplates to the front paste down, of Tortworth Rectory and Richard Luckett. In a full calf binding, rebacked with the original boards restored. Externally, generally smart. Some light rubbing and discolouration to the original boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. Only a few small marks to the boards. Front paste down and endpaper are discoloured and a little worn, with a repaired chip to the head of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with the occasional spot. Tide mark to the frontispiece and first couple of pages, smaller tide mark to the head of the last few pages. Very Good. book.
