Together 4 pp. The earliest letter in the collection, from 1843, is addressed to an unidentified friend named Milbert, possibly a librarian, asking him to lend Pierre-Louis Roederer's final publication "Mémoires pour servir l'histoire de la société polie" to the journalist Édouard Charton (1833-90) for an unspecified project: "Mon ami M. Charton, directeur du Magasin pittoresque, voudrait faire un travail pour lequel le livre de M. Roederer (l'histoire de la société polie) lui serait fort utile. Il ne peut se procurer ce livre qui ne se vend pas, seriez-vous assez aimable pour le lui prêter [.]". Édouard Charton's "Magasin pittoresque", launched in 1833, was the first illustrated magazine in France, following the model of the British "Penny Magazine". - The second dated letter, from 1866, is to ask Alfred de Beauchesne of the Paris Conservatory to admit the daughter of a Madame Barbe de Kroll from Russia without her fulfilling the formal requirement of producing her birth certificate: "Voulez-vous, mon cher ami, passer pour aujourd'hui sur la formalité de l'acte de naissance de la fille de Mad.e Barbe de Kroll ; elle le fera venir de Russie si sa fille est admise comme élève à nos classes". - In an undated letter, Regnier asks the unnamed recipient for a large number of "maps of Nancy" on behalf of the actor Louis Monrose. The final undated letter is to accept an invitation. - Minimal stains.
