Sigaud de la Fond (1730-1819) subentrò a Nollet alla cattedra di fisica sperimentale del Collegio Louis-le-Grand. Insegnò diverse materie, comprese anatomia e fisiologia, ma il suo più rilevante contributo alla scienza fu nel campo della tecnica sperimentale. Fu un grande divulgatore, conquistando attraverso le sue pubblicazioni un gran numero di laici illuminati. Il Wheeler Gift Catalogue attribuisce a questa opera il merito di dibattere con chiarezza i fenomeni e le leggi dell'elettricità e di tracciare il loro sviluppo storico. L'autore tratta inoltre i fenomeni elettromagnetici e la loro applicazione nel trattamento delle malattie.
