Karl Julius Sillig (1801-1855) was a German classicist and Karl August Böttiger's (1760-1835) pupil and editor. Sillig's "Dictionary of the Artists of Antiquity: Architects, carvers, engravers, modellers, painters, sculptors, statuaries, and workers in bronze, gold, ivory, and silver (.)", translated from the Latin original by the Rev. H. W. Williams, was published in London in 1836 and again in 1837. His "Catalogus artificium" was much influential in its time and is considered his most important work.
