Wrappers. Zustand: Acceptable. 23 cm; 65 pages (numbered 365-430). Bound in original printed wraps bearing the series title, inscribed by Thalbitzer to fellow Danish polar ethnologist Hother B. Simon Ostermann. Both wraps loose but present. 4cm section of backstrip perished. Text block sound and entire. The principal philologist of the languages of Greenland first drafted this study of Inuit totems in Danish in 1926 as "Eskimoernes kultiske guddomme." He has inscribed the German translation (that is, the translation into the prevailing lingua franca of science) to his colleague H. Ostermann, who did much field work in Greenland. First German edition, signed and inscribed.
