An early American gothic novel first published in 1805. Born in Massachusetts, Caroline Warren was related to the Bunker Hill revolutionary General Joseph Warren. An educator and writer, she became a leading figure in women's education throughout New York State, and later in Kentucky and Mississippi. Scarce in the original boards.
