Vintage "Kennel Club Experimental Film Festival" one-color flyer, San Francisco, for Wednesday, September 13, 1989, "featuring 2 films by: Tom Palazzolo / As well as those wacky contributions by local & regional filmmaker freaks, including films by the following people: Julie Murray, Mark Street, Thomas Hollier-Larousse, Steve Jensen, David Dickerson, and maybe Marc Heffels." San Francisco's Kennel Club, at 628 Divisadero Street, opened in 1987 as a popular alternative music venue for bands such as Jane's Addiction, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr., The Melvins, and Jesus Lizard, among others. The club also held San Francisco's first Noise Pop Festival in 1993, then a one day event promoted as a "5 bands for 5 dollars show," before the festival became a week long event and one of San Francisco's most notorious music festivals. The club was sold after seven years in 1993, briefly becoming The Crash Palace, which closed in 1994. From 1997 to 2002 the location was the hip-hop, electronic, and reggae club The Justice League, before becoming San Francisco's world famous music venue The Independent in 2004. 8.5 x 14 inches. Very Good plus, with light creasing overall and several pinholes.
