Cloth. Zustand: Very good. First edition, first issue of King Kong by Delos W. Lovelace, conceived by Edgar Wallace and Merian C. Cooper. (illustrator). First Edition, First Issue. Octavo, [vi], 249pp, [1]. Green cloth, title stamped in brown. Brown top stain. Pictorial endpapers. Lacking the scarce dust jacket. Light sunning to green cloth at the spine, faint soiling to rear panel, rubbing to tips at both ends of the spine. Previous ownership notation on front pastedown endpaper, bookseller's label on rear pastedown endpaper, dedication on half-title erased. Masonic Library stamp following last page of text. (Reginald 09268) A very good and attractive example. The novelization of King Kong by Delos W. Lovelace was published in December 1932, and in early 1933, a serialization titled "King Kong" by Walter F. Ripperger appeared in Mystery Magazine. Both were published in advance of the movie's release in early 1933. Lovelace's novelization did not appear again until 1965, when it was released in paperback form by Bantam Publishing.

Zustand: Good. First Edition. First edition and the novelization of the 1933 RKO film. Bound in publisher's green cloth lettered in dark brown with black topstain; lacking the rare dust jacket. Good. Cloth is grubby, and frayed at corners and spine ends. Spine panel sunned and lightly soiled, circular indents to rear panel. Hinge at verso of front free endpaper is exposed, and there are two sets of staple punctures to several early pages. A fairly nice copy, for this book anyway.

Zustand: Near Fine. First Edition. First edition and the novelization of the 1933 RKO film. Bound in publisher's green cloth lettered in dark brown with black topstain; lacking the rare dust jacket. Near Fine with light wear to cloth, light fading to spine and corners pushed in. Former owner inkless emboss to front free endpaper and pages toned. A lovely copy of a book which usually turns up much worse for wear.

Vintage borderless black-and-white double single reference still photograph from the 1976 film. Fifth in the "Kong" series of films, and the second to be titled simply "King Kong." Fred Wilson (Grodin), an oil magnate from Petrox Oil, is looking for new petroleum deposits on a recently discovered Pacific island. Jack Prescott (Bridges) is a paleontologist, stowing away on Wilson's ship, who warns that they are headed for "Skull Island," where prehistoric monsters still live and roam free. Also along for the ride is Dwan (Lange), shipwrecked in the ocean after the sinking of a yacht. The group lands on the island and a giant ape, Kong, becomes fascinated by Dwan. The ape kidnaps her but Prescott comes to her aid. Wilson locks Kong in the cargo hold of his ship and transports him to New York City. Once there, Kong manages to escape and wreak havoc upon the city, before being compelled to climb up the World Trade Center for sanctuary. Set in New York, shot on location in California and Hawaii. Winner of a Special Achievement Academy Award, and a Special Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. Basis for the sequel and box-office mishap, "King Kong Lives," starring Linda Hamilton. 7.75 x 10 inches. Near Fine, with brief ink annotations on the verso. Lentz, 9. 1251. Muir US.
